History of Fin Bath
Fin Kashan bath is one of the most historical and famous baths in Iran, which is located in the Fin Kashan garden complex. This bathhouse is very important because of its beautiful architecture and also the historical event of the assassination of Amir Kabir, one of the most important reformist figures of the Qajar period. Finn’s bathroom actually consists of two sections called “small bathroom” and “large bathroom”, each of which has its own characteristics and architecture.
History of Fin Bath
Small bathroom: This part of the bath dates back to the Safavid period and the era of Shah Abbas I and is known as one of the oldest parts of Bagh Fin.
Large bathroom: During the Qajar period, a new section was added to the bath, which is known as the “Great Bath”, by order of Feth Ali Shah Qajar. This bathroom is bigger and has more facilities than the small bathroom.
The architecture and features of the fin bath
Fin bath is designed with beautiful Iranian architecture and paying attention to the principles of traditional bathroom architecture. This bathroom includes different parts that are observed in the architecture of traditional Iranian bathrooms and has created a calm and beautiful atmosphere.
Entrance and changing room (Sarbineh): The changing room or changing room is a space where people change their clothes and get ready to enter the bathroom. This space has a special effect due to its dome and beautiful arches as well as tiling and painting decorations.
Hot room: The hot room section, which is the place for washing and bathing, is one of the most beautiful parts of Finn’s bathroom. In this section, hot and cold water pools are used and water vapor creates a pleasant atmosphere.
Coffer: Fin’s bath had hot and cold water coffers, at that time water from the aqueduct was used to fill the coffers. These treasures were located in the greenhouse and provided the water needed for washing and bathing.
Tiling and plastering decorations: In the Fin bathroom, turquoise tiles, beautiful plastering and slime and plant motifs are used for decorations, which show the artist’s handiwork of that period. These decorations show the peak of beauty and accuracy in Safavid and Qajar period architecture.
Water heating and ventilation system: Advanced systems for heating water and air conditioning are used in Fin’s bathroom. This bathroom has a heating system and channels for the release of steam and hot air, which regulates the temperature of the environment.
The historical incident of the murder of Amir Kabir
Fin bath is also known for an important historical event. In 1230 AH, Mirza Taqi Khan Amirkabir, the prime minister of Iran at the time and one of the greatest reformers of the Qajar period, was killed in this bath by the order of Naseruddin Shah Qajar. The murder of Amir Kabir is considered one of the most bitter historical events in Iran, and this event has made Hammam Fin become a historical and symbolic place.
Cultural culture and tourism
Due to its history and unique architecture, Fin Kashan bath has been registered as one of the national works of Iran. Every year, this bathhouse hosts many tourists from home and abroad and is part of the larger complex of Fin Garden, which is also registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
